In this comparison article, we are going to look at four upright vacuum cleaners from Eureka. These are the Eureka NEU100, the Eureka NEU182A, the Eureka NEU180B, and the Eureka NEU202. They are all lightweight devices that perform a splendid job cleaning all types of floor surfaces.
Let’s take a closer look and identify the functional similarities and differences between these four models.
The mark of a good vacuum cleaner is its effectiveness in cleaning your floors. Let’s start this comparison by finding out how good each of the four vacuums is in getting the dirt out.
This is the entry-level model that comes with the most basic of features. It may lack the fancy LED light and shiny metal handle, but this does not mean that it will deliver mediocre results. The lack of these fancy features means that it is compact and lightweight, hence easy to use and effective at its job.
In addition to cleaning your floors, you can use the extension hose and the detachable wand together with the included accessories to clean above-floor areas. The extension hose on this vacuum is 6.8 feet long, which is more than sufficient in reaching ceilings and other high areas in your home.
The vacuum comes with a 1.7-liter dust cup which may be smaller than that in the other three upright vacuums, but it is still more than enough to hold a decent amount of dirt from your cleaning runs. You won’t need to empty it every few minutes. The main brush has a 10.5-inch cleaning path, which is a bit on the lower side when compared to the other three.

This is the second vacuum in Eureka’s line of lightweight upright vacuums, and it comes with a bit more than the NEU100. It delivers strong suction that is able to pick up dirt from your hard floors and carpets easily.
Also, the floor head comes with five height adjustment settings for the rolling brush to make it suitable for vacuuming hard floors, rugs, and carpets of all thicknesses without worrying about getting stuck in the carpet fibers.
When you need to clean above-ground areas, this vacuum comes with a longer 7-foot extension hose that you can use together with the quick release handle to reach ceiling fans, curtains, and high baseboards.
The dust cup on this vacuum comes with a 4.1-liter capacity that will be able to hold all the dirt and debris from your vacuuming runs without requiring you to stop before you finish just to empty the bin. It comes with a 12.6-inch cleaning path that will get your floor clean faster and in fewer passes than the NEU100.
Next in line is the NEU180B that looks and performs very similar to the NEU182A. When it comes to cleaning, it performs exactly like the NEU182A. It has a 4.1-liter dust cup, a 12.6-inch cleaning path and a 7-foot extension hose that you can use with the quick release handle on above-ground areas.
This upright vacuum is the most advanced of the four and as expected, it brings a bit more to the table. For starters, you will notice that it comes with LED headlight on the brushroll to show you where the dirt is when you are vacuuming dark corners and under furniture.
It comes with an extra-large dust cup that will not need frequent emptying as you vacuum and a wide cleaning path of 12.6 inches. At 8 inches, it has the longest extension hose, so you will be able to reach above-ground areas more comfortably using this vacuum than with the other three.
Ease of Use
You don’t want to find yourself with an upright vacuum that makes you dread using it. Let’s see how easy these four are to use.
Eureka NEU100 – This one is the lightest of the four; hence, you will never have any problems moving it from one part of your home to the other. It has an 18-foot power cord which is the shortest of the four, but it is still sufficient for cleaning average sized rooms without having to use an extension cord.
Eureka NEU182A – At 10 pounds, this vacuum is slightly heavier than the NEU100, but it is still light enough to carry around without any problems. It comes with a longer, 25-foot cord that will help you go further before you need to look for an extension cord or find another plug.
Eureka NEU180B – This one also weighs 10 pounds, and it comes with a 25-foot power cord. As we mentioned earlier, this vacuum is very similar to the NEU182A. The only noteworthy difference is the use of a solid metal handle instead of the plastic one in the NEU182A. As a result, this vacuum is tougher and more durable.
Eureka NEU202 – This one weighs 12.3 pounds and although it is the heaviest of the four vacuums we are comparing today, this weight is still decent when you compare it with some of its competitors. It also comes with a 25-foot cord, but this time, the cord comes with the cord rewind mechanism to retract and neatly store the cord after use.
None of these upright vacuums comes with a HEPA filter, so if you or someone in your family suffers from Asthma or allergies to airborne particles, you will be more comfortable with a different model. With that said, these vacuums all come with washable filters that won’t need you to spend any money on replacement filters every time the filter gets full. You will just need to wash the filter in tap water, rinse it, allow some time to dry and it will be as good as new.
These four vacuums from Eureka come packed with almost anything that you would want in an upright vacuum. They are portable, effective at vacuuming, versatile, and more importantly, affordable. The NEU202 is a bit more expensive, but the extra dollars are justified by the extra features like LED headlights and cord rewind.
